WHAT IS A LOSS ADJUSTER?

A Loss Adjuster is the insurance industry professional employed by the Insurance Company. He / she does not prepare your claim, but rather adjusts your claim once submitted. Our fee is a percentage of the settled claim, and is usually 8% plus VAT. The fee can be negotiated for larger claims.

There is no fee for an initial survey and inspection and in the unlikely event that no claim arises, no fee will be charged. Bishop Insurance Services only get paid after you, the Client, receive your settlement cheque.

WHY DO I NEED THE SERVICES OF A LOSS ASSESSOR (BISHOP INSURANCE SERVICES) IN PREPARING MY CLAIM?

In the first instance the burden of proof regarding the claim rests with the Client. This requires a detailed knowledge of your Insurance policy, its warranties, endorsements, and exclusions – Bishop Insurance Services will have extensive knowledge in this regard.

The preparation of construction costs in respect of the repair or indeed demolition and complete reinstatement of a property requires specialist expertise. Bishop Insurance Services will use their experience and expertise to negotiate the best possible settlement with the Loss Adjuster.

HOW IS MY ACTUALL LOSS DETERMINED?

Bishop Insurance Services will undertake a detailed survey of the damaged property and detail the nature and extent of remedial works required. We will negotiate the best settlement on your behalf.

WHEN DO I RECEIVE PAYMENT IN RESPECT OF MY CLAIM?

You will receive payment 14 – 21 days after settlement is agreed on your behalf by your loss assessor. This in turn is dependent on the complexity of your claim and the timetable / schedule of the Loss Adjuster.

We handle many types of property insurance losses, the most common being fire, storm, flood, burst pipes, burglary and subsidence. We also have specialist knowledge in Oil Claims.
